3D PRINTING / IMPRESSÃO EM 3D

Adquiri alguns modelos impressos em 3D da shapeways: http://www.shapeways.com/
A maior parte deles no material mais barato, um nylon com uma superfície granulada. Por vezes o único material em que a peça está disponível.
É resistente mas com um acabamento muito granulado. Nas superfícies lisas sem detalhes como rebites, é fácil betumar com pasta da Vallejo e com lixas finas adquirir um acabamento liso e brilhante. Mas se tem detalhes...
Ainda não descobri como utilizar este meio de produção de peças fora do mainstream, mas estou esperançado que com a prática, conseguirei tirar melhor partido.

Most of them on a grainy nylon, the cheapest material. Sometimes the only media available.
It his quite strong, but the grainy finishing is disapointing. On surfaces without details I found out that Vallejo putty works great. Smoothed with several grades of fine sandpaper I get very shiny surfaces. But on faces with rivet details...
I haven't found yet how to take good advantage of this very promising media offering models that aren't mainstream.

Estava a correr bem até que decidi dar uma poeira com aerógrafo...

Quando comprar mais umas carruagens, tentarei polir as superfícies onde puder.

 The painting was looking fine until I decided to airbrush dust... When I buy more of these coaches for a micro layout, I think I'll try to tackle the grainy look that ruins an otherwise beatiful model.

A base com os bogies são de um eléctrico da Tomytec en escala N. Vêm sem motorização, tenho alguns destes chassis descartáveis onde coloquei rodas metálicas da Tomytec, que escureci quimicamente.

Será a primeira vez que utilizarei engates Kadee. Como se pode ver pela foto vou ter algum trabalho para acertar com as alturas. Talvez tenha de descartar-me do chassis da Tomytec e construir um mais baixo. Mesmo assim suspeito que terei de colar um bloco para ter o engate na altura normalizada.

The wheels are from a Tomytec N scale tram. These trams are sold as dummies, so the wheels and base chassis have to be replaced.  The chassis is kind of a box, I laid some sheets of lead to give some weigth. Replace the original plastic wheels by metal ones form Tomix, that I chemically blackned

Sadly it's not going to be so simple. I'm thinkig to use Kadee N scale couplers and the gig tells me I'll have to either remove the tomytec chassis and get a lower one or gule a mont for the kadees at the right height. maybe even both possibilities...

I'm new with Kadee, I was just hoping for an easy start.

A carruagem vem com dois bancos corridos integrados na impressão. Apenas tive de cortar umas uniões que conferiam rigidez aos bancos, para poder inserir os vidros. Estes são feitos com plástico de blisters, têm quase a espessura equivalente ao espaço entre as paredes da carruagem e as costas dos bancos. Incompreensivelmente a carruagem não vem com portas.

  The coach comes with interior detail apready in place. I just had to trim some little conections that were suporting the back of the seats so I could insert the window panes. I used plastic form blisters, the thickness almost matches the interval between the coach inner face and the back of the seats. Oddly the coach, that is very nicely designed, doesn't include doors.
